Chins in Heaven

Page 1

These pages are dedicated to the chinchillas that are so dearly missed but will never be forgotten by their owners. All of them have joined Gizmo and Urmeli at the RAINBOWBRIDGE.

Max

Max 01
Max was only 8 weeks of age when I discovered him at a pet store. Bitten by his cage mates and totally distraught he was sitting in a corner. At that very moment I knew that it had to be him and no other chinchilla.

Max 02
With endless love and patience I was able to win his heart. He got used to his daily excursions and loudly demanded them very soon. Max enjoyed to snuggle up to my arm - when he was in the right mood - and he insisted on sleeping on top of my hand every evening, which I pushed through his cage and placed on his favorite board.

Max 03
It was so good to observe how well he felt being around me. He even survived a bad hurt of his back without complications that occurred while he was jumping around. Back then his vet only foretold him a 1%-chance to survive.

So it is very hard to belief that it was quality chinchilla food that took this little fellow's life away. Nobody could suspect that his food was contaminated with harmful substances, which led to his little body's poisoning inevitably. My vet tried everything possible but tragically could not help Max in time.

Max died on August 11, 1999 at the age of 3 1/2 yeas. I will never forget this cute little darling. One thing comforts me a little bit - I was with him during his last hours and I am sure that he could feel it.

Spotty

Spotty 01
Spotty came to me as a playful and unbelievably kind furball at the age of only 8 weeks. I got her from Christine Bauer. Spotty was my first colored chinchilla and quickly became my darling and sunshine, because she spread her good mood everywhere!

Her nature was simply great: playful and always friendly and accommodating to all humans and chins. Her way of jumping in the air like a baby, which she still did when she was highly pregnant and her acrobatic climbing feats (e.g. balancing on narrow towel racks) were characteristic for her. Her ideas were almost inexhaustible.

Spotty 02
Spotty also loved to eat a lot (particularly raisins and everything sweet), and when she was outside her cage she loved to gnaw on cable and simply all that was made of plastic. She enjoyed her daily excursions as much as playing in the group. Sociability was very important to her anyway. She also liked it to jump on me and steel and kidnap pencils, crispbread and simply everything, in order to destroy it secretly in a quiet corner. She could never resist a round of pulling ropes or socks.

Spotty 03
With Cindy, who was her best friend and cage companion, she was a heart and a soul. But even the little, somewhat difficult Jou-Jou was accepted by her as much as Jou-Jou's babies, when these became orphans. After all what we had been through she was always in a good mood.

Spotty 04

She got over an attack with several bite wounds caused by Gizmo, the surgical removal of a large abscess on her back, a brought in fungus infection, some diarrheas caused by her nervous stomach since the heavy use of antibiotics...

After she had put away everything so well - being healthy and pregnant - she unexpectedly died in my arms at the age of only 15 months, only a few hours after the luckiest but most difficult event of her life - the birth of her three beautiful babies.

I raised Lucky, Fix and Foxy with the bottle and the assistance of her cagemate Cindy. You live on in your babies, Spotty... My Böttchen, I thank you for having been with me and bringing me so much joy!
